Abstract

Cultural tourism is considered a fundamental pillar in enhancing the economic sustainability of archaeological and heritage sites, as it offers renewable development opportunities rooted in local identity. In Jordan, the significance of this role is reflected in its ability to transform heritage into sustainable economic resources that support local communities and preserve cultural legacy. This study aimed to explore the role of cultural tourism in achieving economic sustainability for archaeological sites in Jordan, and to identify ways in which cultural tourism can contribute to generating sustainable income, thereby economically empowering local communities and ensuring their continuity for future generations. The descriptive method was used, which is one of the research approaches that seeks to describe phenomena and problems as they exist in reality. Among the study’s findings, cultural tourism contributes to generating both direct and indirect revenues for archaeological sites in Jordan. The study recommended the development of training plans and programs to engage individuals and local communities in providing tourism services
