Military Responses to Climate Change

This study examines how military organizations can strategically adapt their operational frameworks to mitigate the escalating national security risks posed by climate change. Utilizing a robust mixed-methods research design, this dissertation integrates qualitative policy analyses and semi-structured expert interviews with quantitative climate projections and military readiness metrics. The empirical findings indicate that contemporary military preparedness measures remain insufficient to counter projected environmental disruptions, which severely threatens operational efficacy, troop deployment, and strategic resource management. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates that proactive, climate-conscious resource allocation directly enhances organizational resilience and capacity during environmental crises. Crucially, this research highlights the critical yet understudied intersection between military disaster-response operations and public healthcare systems, establishing that multi-sectoral collaboration is imperative to maintaining global health standards under climate-induced stressors. Ultimately, these insights provide actionable policy recommendations for aligning defense readiness with sustainable, collaborative national security frameworks capable of mitigating both logistical and public health vulnerabilities.
