Abstract

As a result of the continuous development in societies and countries through industrial revolutions and human habits, all these accumulations have led to a major imbalance in the environment, which has prompted the need for countries at the national and international levels to confront this phenomenon.

As a result of the continuous development in societies and countries through industrial revolutions and human habits, Jordan, like other countries, has taken many measures that contribute to reducing environmental pollution and preserving the environment. Among these measures, royal directives were issued to create a new department in the Public Security Directorate called the Environmental Police Department in 2006. It remained with this name until 2008, when the current name, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, was adopted. It is considered one of the Public Security units and has a technical relationship with the Ministry of Environment. Through this research, we will explain the legal system of this administration, the nature of its work, the duties it performs, and the legislation that governs this work, in order to contribute to maintaining environmental security through the enforcement of the law according to strategic plans that are organized and coordinated with any relevant party.
