This research aims to explore the methodology, approach, and style of Ibn al-Banna in critiquing grammatical judgments and issues, whether they involve expressions of acceptance and approval or expressions of rejection and weakening. It also seeks to examine Ibn al-Banna's choices and efforts in issuing critical judgments on grammatical issues and rulings.
The research follows a descriptive analytical approach, investigating Ibn al-Banna's methodology, approach, and style in critiquing grammatical judgments and issues, as well as exploring the instances of his specific choices and efforts, through the terms he used to indicate that.
The research revealed the quality of Ibn al-Banna's method, approach, and style in critiquing grammatical judgments and issues; thus, he does not issue a critical judgment on grammatical rulings and issues without analysis, commentary, justification, and mentioning the evidence that supports his critical judgment, and he has his own specific method and style in this regard. The research also shows that Ibn al-Banna has specific opinions and efforts, and that he sometimes uses clear terms indicating that this critical judgment is his own choice and preference, such as: (in my opinion, I have not heard, the choice, what we said, and there is further consideration in my view), and sometimes we can infer this from the context he presents when analyzing the issue at hand.
The explanation of the elucidation by Ibn al-Banna expresses his method and style in critiquing grammatical judgments and issues, whether they involve expressions of acceptance and approval or expressions of rejection and weakening. He also has his own choices and efforts in issuing critical judgments on grammatical issues and rulings. The research also revealed a close relationship between the rulings of grammatical criticism and the sciences of Sharia, especially with regard to the words used in grammatical criticism, citing evidence from the Holy Qur’an, as well as citing some of the readings adopted in issuing rulings of grammatical criticism.
